You can buy raw materials from the grandmother in the market. However, independent collection and drying is the key to using a high-quality useful product.

The highest concentration of vitamins and minerals is typical for ripe fruits. Full ripening is observed in the interval from late summer to late October. It depends on the weather conditions, the specific area and the plant variety.

An important aspect of harvesting is collection in an environmentally safe area. Areas near highways, chemical plants, landfills are best avoided.

Removing the remnants of the calyx and stalk of fresh fruits is difficult. Therefore, it is better to do this after drying.

Drying

The correct drying process should be carried out in the following steps:

  1. Preparation of collected raw materials. Moved, not washed. Berries with any defects are removed. Drying is allowed as a whole or in halves.
  2. Direct drying of berries.

To carry out the last process in the oven, several options are possible:

  1. low temperature:
  • spread the raw materials in one layer on a clean baking sheet;
  • heat the oven to a temperature of 40 degrees;
  • put a baking sheet in it;
  • last one hour;
  • preheat the oven to a temperature of 60 degrees;
  • continue the process until the desired result is obtained (it may take up to 10 hours).
  1. high temperature:
  • place the fruit in a thin layer on a clean baking sheet;
  • bring the temperature to 100 degrees;
  • put the berries in the oven;
  • withstand 10 minutes;
  • reduce the heating of the cabinet to a temperature of 75 degrees;
  • save the indicator until the result is achieved (it will take several hours).

Alternative options for the oven - Russian stove, convection oven, electric dryer. Do not dry in direct sunlight. They adversely affect the properties of berries.

To obtain a well-dried product, you must:

  • periodically stir the berries during drying;
  • ensure constant air movement (for this you can use modern technology with a convention or open the door of a conventional oven).

Sufficiently dried fruits are springy, but do not crumple and do not crumble. The last two abilities are characteristic of under-dried and over-dried products, respectively.

Dried rose hips are the most common storage option. Their alternative is a frozen product. Vitamin and mineral value from exposure to low temperatures is lost slightly.

In the last step of this stage, the dried product is re-sorted by hand and the remnants of the sepals are removed.

Storage

First, dry rose hips are placed in a well-ventilated container for a couple of days. It can be a wooden box, a paper box, a cloth bag. After it is transferred to a jar (glass, iron) and the neck is tied with a cloth. The last nuance helps to eliminate the risk of mold formation.

There are a huge number of ways to prepare rose hips. Tinctures, decoctions, compotes, kissels and much more are prepared from this product.

We cook a decoction of wild rose. We take a wild rose, and thoroughly wash it by pouring hot water over it. A lot of unnecessary substances and heavy metals are collected on the surface of the fruit, since the bushes of this plant like to grow near roads. We open the rosehip and extract the inside (seeds). Pour the peeled fruits with water in the ratio of 1 tablespoon of the product to 0.5 liters of water. Cook for 30-40 minutes. After this time, add sugar, and preferably honey to taste. Let it brew for 1-3 hours.

We brew the rosehip. It is best to brew fruits in a thermos with a glass flask. Thoroughly rinse the dogrose with hot or warm water. It is desirable to use whole fruits for this purpose. It is necessary to fill the dogrose with water at a temperature of 70-80 degrees, in the ratio of 2 tablespoons of the product to 0.5 liters of water. You can add sugar or honey to taste. We close the thermos and leave to infuse from 45 minutes to 6 hours. Preferably brew overnight.
